Have a Heart Humane Society is always looking for volunteers! We are thrilled you want to volunteer with us. Our volunteers are the backbone of our rescue. We can't wait to introduce you to our organization and the team that makes it all happen. We have a variety ways you can help, from working in our store sorting, pricing and displaying donation for sale, to fundraising, and volunteering to work at special events. Maybe you are willing to drive down to Bakersfield and pick up animals from the shelter for us. If you have an area of speciality that you think might be helpful, fill out an application and come have a talk with us! Please take a few minutes to read through the website. Help sort, price, and stock donated items. Additional opportunities available to serve as a cash register operator. In addition to the aforementioned duties, also interacts with customers.
Sort, clean, price and display donated jewelry. Ideally would have some experience.
A large protion of our funding depends on securing grants from various organization. As a grant writer you prepare and submit the appropriate material requested by foundation. Then if awarded a grant, provide the organization giving the grant with an accounting of how the money was spent.
Have a Heart Huamne Society is a foster based animal rescue. Our ability to help animals, depends on having a home to put the animal in! We are in constant need of fosters for cats and dogs! Foster duties include: Evaluating animals, likes and dislikes, behavior, potty training, basic commands, and most importantly allowing the pets to decompress as they come out of the stressful shelter envioroment. We supply all food, equipment, and vet services, you provide a warm safe loving home on a temporary basis. Our average foster time for dogs is right a 22 days and about 9 days for cats.
Have a Heart participates in various community events. We need volunteers who are willing to share what we do, with the community at large, and staff our booths! Skills needed include outgoing personality, customer service.
Help us raise money! We are also looking for a fundraiser, who would be willing to solicit donations from local businesses, and supporters to fund things such as low cost spay and neuter, and campaigns for reduced adoptions and occasional medical funding for a particular dog. We also need volunteers to help sell opportunity drawing tickets, bake sales, See Candy Sales, etc.
We need driver(s) to take an animal to the vet, or pick up animals from the shelters in Bakersfield.
